MANILA – The Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) on Monday received PHP7.6 million worth of assorted and brand-new vehicles from the Armed Forces and Police Mutual Benefit Association, Inc. (AFPMBAI).
“The AFP extends its appreciation to all the officers and members of the AFPMBAI for helping the military in the fight against (the coronavirus disease 2019) Covid-19. This act of generosity continues to inspire our frontline workers to better perform their duties in overcoming the challenges of the pandemic,” AFP chief Gen. Jose Faustino Jr. said as he formally received the group’s donation in a ceremony in Camp Aguinaldo.
The donation includes a Nissan Type 2 DOH ambulance intended for the Camp General Emilio Aguinaldo Station Hospital; a Toyota Hiace Grandia van for the AFP Supply Accountable Office; a Honda motorcycle for each of the five regional pension and gratuity management center units; and a 2021 Toyota Avanza multipurpose vehicle for the Office of The Judge Advocate General.
The AFPMBAI also handed over some office equipment for the AFP Finance Center and an ultra high-definition television set for the Joint Task Force-National Capital Region.
Present during the turnover and blessing ceremony were retired Maj. Gen. Rizaldo Limoso, AFPMBAI president; retired Col. Eliezer Galam, head of Corporate Services; retired Brig. Gen. Rolando Manalo, chief of Area and Branch Operations; retired Maj. Gen. Dante Hidalgo, head of Real Estate Division; and other AFPMBAI officers.
The AFPMBAI is an organized mutual benefit association that provides security, protection, and meaningful financial solutions for the uniformed services of the Philippines and their families.
It has donated various equipment to the military over the years to aid in its missions. Among which were four Coaster buses turned over to the AFP in October 2020.
The AFP also received PHP14.1-million worth of vehicles donation from AFPMBAI, as well as medical equipment worth PHP26 million to help in its Covid-19 response last year. (PNA)
