DAGUPAN CITY – The local government units (LGUs) of Calasiao town and this city suspended classes at all levels and work in government offices and agencies Thursday due to flooding and other anticipated aftermaths of Severe Tropical Storm Maring.
They said the suspension of work of private companies and offices is left to the discretion of their respective executive officers taking into account the safety and convenience of the employees.
In Executive Order (EO) No. 36, Dagupan City Mayor Marc Brian Lim said the suspension does not cover those in frontline services and emergency response.
Calasiao Mayor Joseph Arman Bauzon said the implementation of proactive measures must be put in place to negate the effects of the possible massive flooding and its effects on the municipality’s constituents.
“The municipality of Calasiao is experiencing flooding in a majority of its barangays and the LGU is anticipating an increase in both the number and depth of flooding in its barangays as the water level of Marusay or Sinucalan River is at overflowing as of 5 p.m. of October 13,” he said in EO No. 115.
