BAGUIO CITY – The Cordillera Administrative Region (CAR) has received so far a total of 1,110,844 doses of different brands of coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19) vaccine, an official of the Department of Health (DOH) said on Thursday.
During a regular “Kapihan” forum, Dr. Amelita Pangilinan, DOH-CAR assistant director and spokesperson, said these include 577,720 Sinovac doses; 234,000 Pfizer doses; 153,764 AstraZeneca doses; 100,650 Janssen doses; 33,910 Moderna doses and 10,800 Sputnik V doses.
She said some 414,875 residents have been fully vaccinated, including those inoculated with the single-shot Janssen vaccine.
Another 455,123 have received one dose and are waiting for the schedule of their second dose.
Pangilinan added that in provinces experiencing a surge in Covid-19 cases, many have opted to get whatever brand is available.
“Nakikita naman nila na importante may protection sila kaysa sa wala saka marami ang natatakot dahil marami ang nai-infect kaya gusto nila pag may vaccine, mabigyan na sila (they can see the importance of having protection than having none at all and they are afraid because many are being infected making them opt to be immediately jabbed),” she said.
In the same forum, Dr. Thea Pamela Cajulao, infectious disease specialist at the Baguio General Hospital and Medical Center (BGHMC), said 89 percent of Covid-19 fatalities in the region in September were unvaccinated. (PNA)
