LA UNION — The Philippine Coast Guard District Northwestern Luzon has rescued a total of 100 families trapped in their homes amidst typhoon Maring’s fury on Tuesday, October 12, 2021, in various communities in the province of La Union.

The rush of floodwaters from overnight rains has submerged low-lying barangays in the area which isolated some barangays and caused major roads impassable to any vehicle.

The PCG was swift to conduct rescue operations together with the local government units of the affected communities.

Meanwhile, two more dead bodies were recovered in Barangay Patpata, Candon City, Ilocos Sur while three others were declared missing in Sudipen, La Union (2) and Badoc, Ilocos Norte (1). (ai/mtvn)
