LAPU-LAPU CITY, Cebu – Despite being blocked by fellow senatorial aspirant failed putchist Antonio “Sonny” Trillanes IV, former partylist lawmaker Neri Colmenares on Sunday expressed thanks to presidential aspirants Senator Manny Pacquiao of PROMDI and Leody de Guzman of Partido Lakas ng Masa (PLM) for including him in their respective senatorial slates.

The nephew of philanthropist actress Angel Locsin has claimed that Trillanes wanted him out of Vice President Leni Robredo’s Senate slate.

“The recognition and support of a presidential candidate, like Sen. Pacquiao, is very important for candidates like me who rely on the support of ordinary Filipinos in our campaign. We value such unconditional endorsement,” Colmenares said on Sunday, October 17.

The fomer partylist representative also thanked labor leader de Guzman for his endorsement.

“Ka Leody and I were senatorial candidates of Labor Win in 2019, and we fought hard against contractualization and violations of workers’ rights,” Colmenares recalled.

It can be recalled that Trillanes had threatened Robredo that no support will be expected from the Magdalo group if Robredo gives way to Senator Panfilo Lacson in the 2022 presidential race.

Some political observers said that Robredo might have succumbed to Trillanes’ threat but with her presidential run, it will be either former Senator Bongbong Marcos or Manila Mayor Isko Moreno who will win the 2022 presidential race. (ai/mtvn)
