BAGUIO City – Members of Police Regional Office-Cordillera were deployed this morning at the Benguet Electric Cooperative (BENECO) general headquarters at South Drive, Baguio City to ensure peace and order within the premises after the National Electrification Administration (NEA) took over the compound.

NEA Project Supervisor for BENECO Omar Mayo, in a memorandum dated Oct. 18 addressed to all Beneco departments, said the “management” will respect the Constitutionally-guaranteed right of the people to a peaceful assembly, in which, there will be a designated place within the Beneco premises to be identified by the “management.”

The memorandum states that the assembly should not disrupt works within Beneco premises and that employees may join the assembly, but not during office hours.

A permit for the assembly must first be obtained from the LGU and the assembly must adhere to prevailing health protocols set by the IATF.
Mayo added that the “management” is not preventing any employees, except those suspended by NEA, to report for work.

Mayor Benjamin Magalong also visited BENECO this morning and had talks with and NEA-BOA appointed General Manager Ana Maria Rafael and also to make sure that the place is safe and that there will be no disruption of work.
