LAPU-LAPU CITY, Cebu – Just like a suspense-thriller movie, the plot thickens with the tacit confirmation of Davao City Mayor Sara Duterte-Carpio that she met on Saturday, October 23, with presidential aspirant former Senator Bongbong Marcos in the birthday celebration of the wife of House Majority Leader and Lakas-Christian Muslim Democrats (Lakas-CMD) president Martin Romualdez.

“Confirmed po na nagkita kami ngayon lang ni Presidential aspirant at former Senator BBM sa masayang pagdiriwang ng birthday ni Cong. Yedda, maybahay ni House Majority Leader Martin Romualdez sa Cebu,” Duterte-Carpio said on Saturday in her Facebook post.

Early Saturday morning, Duterte-Carpio had a meeting with Cebu City acting Mayor Mike Rama and then later with Senator Imee Marcos, elder sister of the presidential aspirant BBM.

Political observers said Duterte-Carpio may run either as president or vice president under the Lakas-CMD — the party of former presidents Fidel V. Ramos and Gloria Macapagal Arroyo — and substitute for either Anna Velasco as its presidential aspirant or Lyle Uy as vice-presidential candidate.

On the other hand, born-again Christian preacher Grepor “Butch” Belgica, the presidential candidate of the political party Pederalismo ng Dugong Dakilang Samahan (PDDS), on Friday expressed willingness to “give way” in case the presidential daughter decides to seek the highest government post.

“Ang totoo po niyan ay nag-appeal po kami sa kaniya (The truth is we made an appeal to her) formally and officially to consider (running for president). And we are willing to give way to her,” said Belgica who is also the Presidential Adviser on Religious Affairs and father of Greco Belgica, current chair of the Presidential Anti-Corruption Commission (PACC), and Jeremiah Belgica who is the director-general of the Anti-Red Tape Authority (ARTA).
