LAPU-LAPU CITY, Cebu — Recognizing the rich potentials of Cebu province, former Senator and presidential aspirant Bongbong Marcos has vowed to accelerate progress in the island and transform it into a lively economic hub.

Marcos — who topped the recent surveys on “presidentiables” and whose presidential bid got a boost on Sunday, October 24, when Davao City Mayor Sara Duterte-Carpio has openly expressed support together with the Hugpong ng Pagbabago (HnP) that she founded in Davao region — promised to help Cebu develop “not just a second city to Manila” but as a vital economic hub in the Central Visayas.

“Cebu is still the economic center of the Visayas. And in some areas, it’s actually the economic center of the Philippines,” Marcos noted.

He also told Cebu reporters that although they already had their lineup of senatorial bets and his possible running mate they have to wait until November 15 which is the last day of substitution of candidates.

Meanwhile, it has become clearer that Duterte-Carpio will not seek the presidency as she has thrown her support behind Marcos.

“Ang amoa lang gi-estoryahan namo sa pagka karon (What we have discussed right now) is how HNP in Davao region can help his (BBM) bid for the presidency,” Duterte-Carpio told the Cebu media.

As this developed, born-again Christian preacher Grepor “Butch” Belgica, presidential candidate of the pro-administration Pederalismo Dugong Dakilang Samahan (PDDS), told Maharlika TV that a “Bongbong Marcos-Bong Go tandem” may eventually emerge on or before November 15 for the 2022 presidential polls.
