LAPU-LAPU CITY, Cebu — Stressing that principled unity is important to achieve genuine change and progress, Team Abtik congressional aspirant Junex Doronio on Tuesday said their local political force prefers a mixed ticket for the city council and promised to cooperate with whoever is elected mayor in this highly urbanized city as long as they agree in fighting corruption in pursuit of good governance.
Doronio, a veteran journalist and former union president who earned his Political Science degree while working as a janitor in a Kung Fu school, said he knows first-hand the hardships and objective needs of the common folks as he vowed to craft bills that will provide full employment, end contractualization and ensure fair wages, among others, if elected as representative of the lone district here.
“Bisan dili ko abogado apan dali ko maduolan sa mga yanong tawo ug sa masa nga gusto nato mahaw-as sa kalisud (Even if I am not a lawyer but rest assured I can easily be approached by the ordinary people and the masses who we would like to free from their difficult conditions),” Doronio said.
He pointed out that one needs not be a lawyer in order to come up with bills and measures in Congress that will “truly benefit the people.”
“Ang importante nga naay kasingkasing alang sa mga kabus ug dinaug-daog (What is important is one has a heart for the poor and the oppressed),” Doronio, who is also running under the Partido Lakas ng Masa (PLM), said. (ai/mtvn)
