BOC-NAIA, PDEA intercepts P8.62m-worth of party drugs and ketamine

The Bureau of Customs-Port of NAIA (BOC-NAIA), Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA), NAIA Inter-Agency Drug Interdiction Task Group (IADITG) seized  Ecstasy “party drugs” and Ketamine in three (3) shipments at Central Mail Exchange Center and FedEx warehouse, Pasay City, Manila.


The shipment from the Netherlands was concealed in a letter addressed to a certain “Angeli Khang” from Tondo, Manila, the second from Germany was concealed in a turn table consigned to a certain “Patricia Reyes” and was misdeclared as “Children’s Toys, Children’s School Bag, Hot Water Bottle, Children’s Shoes, Children’s Hat, Children’s Color, Pencils”.  Meanwhile a third shipment originating from Malaysia consigned to a certain “Ferdie Santos” was also intercepted wherein the illegal substances were concealed inside a water filter.

Through the intensified security measures and the vigilance of Customs-NAIA personnel, the said shipments were subjected to 100% physical examination which yielded the discovery of dangerous drugs. The discoveries were immediately coordinated with PDEA and NAIA-IADITG.

A total of 4,547 pieces of Ecstasy in two shipments were discovered. 100 pieces on the first shipment with estimated street value of Php 170,000, and 4,447 pieces with estimated street value of Php7,559,900. In addition to this, the third shipment contained 178.5 grams of KETAMINE with an estimated street value of Php 892,500.00. The field tests conducted by authorities confirmed that the seized items were Ecstasy “party drugs” and Ketamine also known as “Vitamin K”.

Today, October 29, 2021, BOC-NAIA turned over to PDEA the seized illegal drugs for further profiling and case build-up against the consignee and other personalities involved for possible prosection for violating the Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002 in relation to Section 1401 of the Customs Modernization and Tariff Act of 2016.

The Bureau of Customs under the leadership of Commissioner Rey Leonardo B. Guerrero and BOC-NAIA frontliners, headed by Collector Carmelita M. Talusan, through the strong partnership with PDEA and NAIA-IADITG, remain steadfast and committed in intensified  border protection against all illegal drugs and other form.
