MANILA — The newly installed non-resident Defense Attaché of India to the Philippines Capt. Saikat Chatterjee rendered a virtual introductory call to Army Commanding General Lt. Gen. Andres C. Centino (CGPA), October 28, 2021.

During the call, the CGPA underscored the importance of India as a vital partner in Asia for the Philippine Army’s (PA’s) capability development and modernization. He also expressed the PA’s willingness to forge an Army Level Terms of Reference to strengthen both armies’ military-to-military engagements.

“The Philippine Army is committed to expanding and increasing engagements with India through education, training, and other bilateral exercises to attain the full potential of our partnership with India’s defense forces,” the CGPA said.

“These initiatives will surely help foster closer military relations between our countries,” he added.

Singapore-based Capt. Chatterjee expressed gratitude to the CGPA for the warm accommodation. He also affirmed his strong commitment to fostering a closer military relationship between his country and the Philippines. (ai/mtvn)
