A virtual run for your health, frontliners

A virtual run for your health, frontliners

MANILA—A new day is an opportunity to get up on your feet and take on the day’s challenges. Every step that you take today can determine your tomorrow, especially the future of your health.

Physical activity, even simple brisk walking or running, can benefit your health. According to a study running or jogging at 5mph can help a person that weighs about 154 pounds to lose approximately 295 calories within 30 minutes. That is more than 2,000 calories lost in seven days.

The intensity of a person’s physical activity can vary depending on one’s goal. A person who desires to lose weight will need to have a higher amount of physical activity than the person who just wants to maintain their weight. The important thing is to keep moving as much as you can.

This research also reveals that physical activity can help boost mood, enable bodily function, and promote sleep. Even one session of moderate-to-vigorous physical activity can help reduce anxiety, improve overall health, and reduce the risk of chronic diseases.

Now, running can not only benefit you but can also benefit the country’s frontliners. To salute the brave men and women in the frontlines who continuously serve even through a health crisis, and to encourage everyone in the Philippines to take a step towards health, 7-Eleven brings back the 7-Eleven Virtual Run.

Now in its ninth year, the 7-Eleven run series has always been taking steps to unite Filipinos for a cause, and this year it is giving everyone a chance to keep their health and wellness in check while running for a bigger cause – today’s modern heroes, the frontliners.

Registration began last October 4, 2021, but it is not yet too late for those who want to take part as runners can register until November 6, 2021.

The virtual run will have three legs: Manila, Cebu, and Davao. There are also varying categories such as 3K, 5K, 10K, 16K, 21K, 32K, and 42K so you can choose the distance that is most feasible for you. Note that you can finish the run until November 30, 2021 so you can accumulate distances from multiple days of running and even walking.

40,000 slots will be open to everyone nationwide and up to two million worth of CLIQQ E-wallet credits will be donated to frontliners in select hospitals via PhilSeven Foundation, Inc (PFI), Philippine Seven Corp.’s CSR arm.
