MANILA — Department of Labor and Employment Secretary Silvestre Bello III on Thursday (04 November 2021) meet with officials of the city of San Fernando and Pampanga Governor Dennis Pineda for the orientation of some 1,350 TUPAD beneficiaries in the province.

Sec. Bello released the check amounting to P100 million for the TUPAD beneficiaries to Gov. Pineda who thanked the labor chief in return saying it would be a big help to the recipients who would render 15 working days under TUPAD

TUPAD or Tulong Panghanapbuhay sa Ating Disadvantaged/Displaced Workers is a community-based package of assistance that provides emergency employment for displaced workers, underemployed and seasonal workers, for a minimum period of 10 days, but not to exceed a maximum of 30 days, depending on the nature of work to be done.

Gov. Pineda also praised Sec. Bello and the Duterte administration as his province is the very first recipient of a hospital for overseas Filipino workers of Pampanga.

Pineda also openly admitted he is one among people close to the labor chief who is trying to convince him to run for senator for the continuity of his pro-people projects.

The 8,552-strong membership Nanay Community Workers or NCW of Pampanga also expressed enviable support to Belo should he run for senator.

Bello thanked the people of Pampanga for their warm welcome and their initiative to declare him as “adopted son” of the province along with their show of political support but he also stressed his department’s objective of the day was to give orientation to the TUPAD beneficiaries.

Prior to this, Bello graced the opening of the three-storey OWWA building, a one-stop-shop edifice for Kapampangan OFWs.

It is located in Diosdado Macapagal, San Fernando Pampanga. (ai/mtvn)
