CEBU CITY — Stressing that the blood in his veins is 100% Visayan, presidential aspirant Manila Mayor Isko Moreno on Thursday expressed hopes that he will be anointed by the One Cebu provincial party headed by Cebu Governor Gwen Garcia as he envisioned to build bridges connecting the islands of the Visayas region to spur tourism and economic development in the region.

Moreno — who grew up in Tondo, Manila and whose late parents hailed from Antique and Samar — said if elected he will build bridges that will connect the islands of the Visayas region in line with his program to continue the “Build, Build, Build” program of the outgoing administration.

“It is not rocket science… It is possible. It’s a matter of priority by the national government,” Moreno said.

He added that once the bridges are built, “we can get the water from Bohol, the rice from Negros, and then Cebu will prosper.”

Moreno praised the Cebu governor for her able leadership amid the pandemic and said that he has learned a lot during his first sortie in this vote-rich province.

For his part, Congressman Garcia quipped that Moreno “is going into the right direction,”hinting the possibility that the One Cebu provincial party may back up the Aksyon Demokratiko presidential bet.

One Cebu will make the formal announcement after the November 15 deadline of substitution of candidates, he added. (ai/mtvn)
