MANILA—The Philippines has a second international beauty titlist. After Cinderella Obenita won the Miss Intercontinental, now we have Maureen Montagne who just took the crown as Miss Globe 2021 besting 49 other candidates from other countries held at the Opera House in Tirana, Albania on November 5.
Miss Nigeria Ester Ogechi Gabriel was proclaimed first runner up, Miss Turkey Melike Bali, second runner-up; Miss Venezuela Jhosskaren Carrizo Smo, 3rd runner-up and Miss Canada Hailey Hamelin-Wilson, 4th runner-up.
Maureen was the third Filipina to win the Miss Globe. First was Maricar Balagtas in 2001 and followed by Ann Colis in 2015.
During the the Q & A, Maureen was asked by Miss Globe 2019 of Mexico Alejandra Diaz de Leon, “Do you think beauty is a merit and how can we enrich it with other values?”
The 28 Filipina beauty answered: “I think true beauty comes from within. To be a Miss Globe is to be a beauty that inspires.
“What makes us beautiful is our smiles, what we do for our community, it’s how we give back to others, and it’s how we carry ourselves through lives.
“I believe that everyone has beauty inside of them, and I believe it’s our duty to share it with the world and to give back and to truly inspire others.”
Maureen was crowned by Miss Globe 2020 Lorinda Kolgeci of Kozovo.
The crowd felt that Christmas is already in the air during the Miss Globe coronation night with the Christmas tree-inspired green gown of Kolgeci.
Maureen also represented the Philippines in the Miss Eco International 2019 held in Cairo, Egypt where she was the first runnerup. Miss Peru Suheyn Cipriano won the title but she lost her crown and title when she got pregnant.
Maureen could have replaced Cipriano but she declined and chose to join the 57th edition of Binibining Pilipinas, a decision she did not regret because she was proclaimed Bb. Pilipinas-Globe on July 11, 2021 and after few months she brought home the Miss Globe 2021 crown.
Miss Globe 2021 is the eighth beauty pageant Maureen has joined making her a beauty contest veteran.
She has joined Mutya ng Pilipinas 2013 (1st runner-up), Miss Arizona USA 2015, Miss USA 2015 (Top 15), Miss World America 2017 (1st runner-up), Miss World Philippines 2018 (Miss Eco Philippines 2018), Miss Eco International 2019 (1st runner-up), and lastly, the Binibining Pilipinas 2021 (Bb. Pilipinas-Globe).
