PUERTO Princesa City Palawan – The city government of Puerto Princesa on Friday said it is not yet ready to open its doors to tourists from outside Palawan.
So said City Mayor Lucillo Bayron as he stated that they will be first focusing on relaxing public health protocols to cater to local tourists.
“Hindi pa kami ready magtanggap ng tourists as of now. Kasi, ang feeling namin, i-open man namin ang doors to tourism, baka wala namang takers. Ang mga hotels ay closed, ang mga restaurants ay hindi nakaka-operate fully. Kaya, naisip namin, buhayin muna ang local economy, babaan muna ang mga restrictions,” he stated during a radio interview yesterday (Friday).
He also confirmed the city government will announce this December if it will open its tourism industry to outsiders, local and international.
“We are expecting tourist arrivals on the month of April (2022) which is the peak season for tourism, he explained. (ai/mtvn)
