DOST turns over water desalination machine to Marinduque

Sta Cruz, Marinduque – The Department of Science and Technology (DOST) – MIMAROPA together with the local government of Sta Cruz, Marinduque yesterday turned-over the Water Desalination Project to Barangay Mongpong for public use and maintenance.

The ceremony was led by DOST Marinduque Provincial Director Bernardo Caringal and Sta Cruz Mayor Antonio L. Uy, Jr.

Caringal disclosed that the project is the first collaboration between the agency and Sta Cruz LGU.

“Mayroon din pong planong i-replicate ito para sa mga lugar na hirap magkaroon ng resources sa malinis na inuming tubig,” he stated.

The water desalination project for Brgy Mongpong amounted to more than P5 million pesos and will be serving the 1,500 residents of the island.

With the desalination machine in place, the people of Mongpong can noy enjoy fresh and clean water at P25 per gallon.Residents usually gets their clean water from the mainland of Sta Cruz or from the nearby province of Quezon at P60 per gallon. (mtvn)
