GENERAL Trias, Cavite — At least 400 beneficiaries of the Department of Labor and Employment’s TUPAD (Tulong Panghanapbuhay sa Ating Disadvantage/Displaced Workers) thanked DOLE Secretary Bebot Bello for adding one thousand pesos (P1,000) to their regular P4,000 cash payout in Gen Trias City, Cavite on Thursday.
The beneficiaries include farmers, vendors, and womenfolk hardest hit or displaced from their jobs amid the sweeping coronavirus pandemic from Cavite province’s Sixth District.
The indefatigable labor chief personally handed out the beneficiaries’ cash assistance at the Gov. Ferrer Memorial High School-Main Covered Court along Gov. Ferrer Drive, Gen Trias City, Cavite.
According to the farmers, they will use their money to purchase seeds for their rice fields and gasoline for their irrigation systems even as some members from the LGBTQ+ said Christmas for them already came in the form of cash gifts from Secretary Bello.
Meanwhile, 6th District Representative Luis “Jon-Jon” Ferrer also thanked the Secretary for visiting his bailiwick saying Bello is the kind of a government official that is, “hindi mahirap lapitan, walang mahabang usapan.”
Ferrer added that Sec, Bello is the real “Father of TUPAD” although there has been a similar government program before, this came at a crucial time that the national government extended help to the people who are most in need.
Sec Bello is also assured of support from the city of Gen Trias whatever elective national position he may opt to pursue in the future Ferred said. (ai/mtvn)
