MANILA — Department of Labor and Employment Secretary Bebot Bello III himself personally distributed on Saturday to some 1,000 TUPAD beneficiaries to avoid the repetition of a nasty incident before involving slashed payouts.

The beneficiaries of TUPAD or Tulong Panghanapbuhay sa Ating mga Disadvantage/Displaced workers, received a total of P5,370 apiece for their work rendered in 10 days in the 3rd District of Quezon City.

According to Sec. Bello, there should be no form of deductions from their pay as beneficiaries are entitled to due compensation for their work rendered.

“Ang programa ng gobyerno ay kailangan iparating sa mamamayan..kaya ibinaba ito ng DOLE lalu na ngayon naapektuhan sila ng pandemya marami ang nawalan ng trabaho kaya kailangan nila ng ayuda,” Bello said.

It was gathered that if ever Bello goes on with his plan to run for senator in the 2022 elections, the TUPAD program to help disadvantaged workers will continue.

QC 3rd District Congressman Franz Pumaren thanked the DOLE chief who, together with his staff, stayed on course to provide his bailiwick the TUPAD program despite the slashed payouts controversy on the Second District of Quezon City earlier this year.

Pumaren claimed the same will not happen in his District as perpetrators will be meted with the full extent of the law.

Meanwhile, members of the LGBTQUI community also expressed their gratitude to the TUPAD program of the national government saying it has always been a big help to them and other people to stay afloat amid the sweeping pandemic where millions lost their jobs, businesses, and livelihood.
