MANILA — It is not yet confirmed whether Davao City Mayor and vice-presidential candidate Inday Sara Duterte accepted it or not but Sen. Bong Revilla on Wednesday already offered her the chairmanship of Lakas-CMD.
Revilla explained the reason behind his decision to relinquish his post to Duterte-Carpio is to bolster her candidacy in next year’s elections.
“I have full trust and confidence in Mayor Sara Duterte’s leadership, I believe that she will steer the party towards victory in 2022,” said Revilla.
Revilla is the incumbent Lakas-CMD chairman while former President Gloria Arroyo is the party president.
It was gathered Duterte-Carpio took her oath as a member of Lakas-CMD only last Thursday, the same day she resigned from her regional party, Hugpong ng Pagbabago.
And two days later, she replaced Lakas-CMD’s original vice presidential bet Lyle Uy. (ai/mtvn)
