MANILA — Philippine National POlice chief General Dionardo Carlos personally visited on Sunday, November 21, a non-commissioned police officer who was badly hurt after he was allegedly hit in the eye with a broken bottle by a ranking police official in Legazpi City recently.

Carlos personally checked on the situation of the victim, PMSG Ricky Brabante of the Regional Mobile Force Batallion to whom he promised to extend assistance for medical needs.

Brabante, who suffered a serious injury to the right eye, underwent a major operation that resulted in the loss of vision of the affected eye.

Carlos ordered the Police Regional Office 5 (PRO5) to expedite the investigation of the case to be able to come up with a decision at the soonest possible time. He emphasized that it is important to listen to both parties involved.

PCOL Dulnoan Dinamling Jr, who is considered as the suspect and Regional Commander of Aviation Security Group 5, is in restrictive custody under the Aviation Group.

“Iyon po ang ating gagawin, maalagaan ang ating mga personnel at kung may pagkakamali po ay ito po ang laging sinasabi ko na corrective care,” Carlos said.

Carlos added that this must be treated as an isolated case because the act of one will not bring down the entire organization.

He also gave the assurance that he will render his decision according to the facts of the case.

“Wala akong sinasabing (I didn’t say) I will only take care of the high ranking officers, as the father of the PNP I will take care of everybody whether you’re general or patrolman,” he said.

As a way to remind his officers, he instructed the entire police force to continue to pursue the good work that they are supposed to deliver to the people. (ai/mtvn)
