Rizal D2 congressional candidate Omar Fajardo forges crucial alliance with Kamay ng Pinugay-Agimat of Baras town

BARAS, Rizal — Rizal Province District 2 congressional candidate Omar Fajardo has on Friday, 19 November 2021 forged an important alliance with the 50,000-strong Kamay ng Pinugay-Agimat group here.

Headed by Kapitan Rolando Iglopas, the Kamay ng Pinugay-Agimat (KPA) group formalized its intent to support the candidacy of Cong. Omar Fajardo for Rizal’s new second congressional district over a simple but meaningful ceremony at a favorite talk-of-the-town restaurant in Baras.

“Please allow me to extend my sincerest gratitude to KPA’s enviable support most especially Kapitan Rolando Iglopas,” said Cong. Fajardo in Tagalog. “Mabuhay po kayo, malugod ko pong tinatanggap ang inyong pagsuporta sa aking kandidatura. Salamat po Ka Lando!”

Residing in Tanay town, Fajardo is a former OFW Party-List Representative hoping to become the very first congressman of the new district of Rizal which is also made up of six other towns in Teresa, Pililla, Cardona, Tanay, Morong, and Jala-Jala.

Pinugay is a barangay in the municipality of Baras. Its population as determined by the 2020 Census was 50,609. This represented 57.75% of the total population of Baras.

The household population of Pinugay in the 2015 Census was 38,712 broken down into 9,559 households or an average of 4.05 members per household.

The population of Pinugay grew from 3,492 in 1990 to 50,609 in 2020, an increase of 47,117 people over the course of 30 years.

The latest census figures in 2020 denote a positive growth rate of 5.78%, or an increase of 11,851 people, from the previous population of 38,758 in 2015.

Fajardo hopes to bring a pro-people “Omar Cares” brand of politics with a special focus on health, education, infrastructure, environment, tourism, job opportunities among others.
