MANGATAREM, PANGASINAN — The economy will soon be revitalized if there is peace and security.
So said former Philippine National Police (PNP) chief and Partido Reporma senatorial bet Guillermo Eleazar when he visited Pangasinan as he conferred with residents here amidst the rising tensions due to the recent Chinese attack on Philippine vessels at Ayungin Shoal in the West Philippine Sea.

Eleazar vowed that, if he wins a seat in the Senate, he will push for state-of-the-art technology to help modernize the PNP’s public service, including that of the PNP Maritime Group which has been assigned to guard our shores and seas to preserve our sovereignty and territorial rights.

According to 26th PNP chief, he will initiate efforts to institutionalize innovative law enforcement functions in order to develop and intensify police frontline services so reforms can be continued and the ranks of the PNP may be professionalized so it could respond faster and effectively to the needs of the Filipino people.

Based on interviews of Mangatarem residents, they said that Eleazar has important points in his pronouncements because, in his 34 years of serving as PNP chief, he has faced and experienced various problems all in the fulfillment of the mandate given by the citizenry to the PNP.

The Partido Reporma bet likewise said that his desire to improve the PNP is the reason why he has decided to run for election.

His advocacy for state-of-the-art technology in the PNP is in line with the plans of the tandem of Senador Panfilo ‘Ping’ Lacson for president and Senate President Vicente ‘Tito’ Sotto III as vice president to digitalize and automate frontline government agencies to eliminate corruption.

“Bilang isang pupunta sa ganitong bagong yugto sa paglilingkod sa ating bayan, eh I will be focusing, of course, on the perspective of law enforcement na ating nakita naman na hindi natin puwedeng paghiwalayin sa ating economic development,” he concluded. (ai/mtvn)
