Lakas-CMD blasts PDDS over ‘greed’ accusation

LAPU-LAPU CITY, Cebu – Ironic as it may seem but born-again Christian preacher Bishop Grepor “Butch” Belgica who founded the Pederalismo ng Dugong Dakilang Samahan was also accused of “greed” by the Lakas-CMD party on Saturday as it stressed its “full support” for President Rodrigo Roa Duterte after the PDDS stalwart accused several administration allies of “conspiring” against the Chief Executive.

On Friday, November 26, Belgica claimed that some administration allies had “undermined” Duterte and did not even consult the President.

“The greed for power played. They are not able to overcome it. That’s human nature, they forget everything for their own aggrandizement,” Belgica said.

But as soon as the born-again Christian preacher’s attacks subsided he too immediately received a good measure of brickbats of counter-attacks from Lakas-CMD.

“Mr. Butch Belgica of PDDS equates years of public service by former Presidents as greed for power. He might be speaking based on his own experience. Baka iyon lang po kasi ang nagtutulak kay Mr. Belgica para pumasok sa gobyerno. (Maybe that is what pushes Mr. Belgica to enter government service.) And that is greed,” Lakas-CMD retorted.

Duterte has appointed Belgica as Presidential Adviser for Religious Affairs while his sons Greco were named chairman of the Presidential Anti-Corruption Commission (PACC) and Jeremiah was the first-ever appointed Director-General of the Anti-Red Tape Authority (ARTA).

“Mr. Belgica should stop sowing intrigues that divide forces loyal to the President. Itigil na po niya ang maruming pulitika (He should stop dirty politics),” the Lakas-CMD said in a statement.

Lakas-CMD is backing the BBM-Sara tandem for the 2022 polls.

“The Lakas-CMD and its partners in the UniTeam Alliance have made it clear: we are in full support of President Duterte and his administration,” it further said. (ai/mtvn)
