PANIQUI, Tarlac — The Local Government of Paniqui in Tarlac was recognized as the first LGU to join the electronic Freedom of Information (eFOI) Portal (www.foi.gov.ph) and for its exceptional and significant contribution to the Program’s projects and development during the 2021 FOI Awards held on November 25, 2021, at the Radisson Blu Hotel in Cebu City.
The town of Paniqui is among the LGUs which successfully processed and responded to 250 to 499 requests and with at least 90 percent closed transactions in the eFOI portal.
“Ang paggawad ng pamana ng Katotohanan, Tiwala at Transparency sa 2021 FOI Awards para sa ating bayan ay patunay na pagpapakita ng kahalahagahan sa karapatan ng ating mga kababayan sa pagkalap ng pampublikong impormasyon para magbigyan ng sapat at napapanahong serbisyo publiko ang lahat,” Mayor Max Roxas stated.
“Ang pagsusulong sa kalayaan ng impormasyon ay patunay ng aming pagtataguyod ng isang responsible at may pananagutang pamamahala sa ating bayan. Para sa ating mga minamahal na mga kababayang Paniqueño. Asahan po ninyo ang patuloy naming paglilingkod ng tapat at laging maaasahan,” he assured.
The award is given to national government agencies, government-owned and controlled corporations, state universities and colleges, water districts, local government units, and law enforcement agencies who have successfully contributed to the advocacy of providing public information to the Filipino people.
FOI was implemented through Presidential Executive Order no. 2, signed by President Rodrigo Roa Duterte on July 23, 2016. (ai/mtvn)
