GENERAL TRIAS CITY, CAVITE – Partido Reporma chairman and standard-bearer Panfilo “Ping” Lacson recently met with Cavite Governor Juanito Victor “Jonvic” Remulla to firm up support for the party’s advocacies and future “Online Kumustahan” legs in the province ahead of the 2022 national elections.

Lacson had lunch with Remulla, Cavite 6th District Rep. Jonjon Ferrer, 3rd District Rep. Alex Advincula, and Carmona Mayor Roy Loyola at the provincial capitol in General Trias City, where Partido Reporma held its ninth “Online Kumustahan” leg on Dec. 3 (Friday) at the General Trias Sports Park.

Born and raised in Imus, the longtime public servant has repeatedly thanked fellow Cavitenos for always placing him on top of previous elections, ever since his first run for a Senate seat in 2001 and even during his first bid for the presidency in 2004.

Remulla has not formally endorsed any presidential or vice-presidential aspirants for the May 9, 2022 polls. But the governor is a member of the National Unity Party, which is led by former Interior Secretary Ronaldo V. Puno and allied with Partido Reporma.

Cavite is the second most vote-rich province in the country, with more than 2.1 million voters as of 2019 based on data from the Commission on Elections.

In GenTri, the veteran senator was greeted by an enthusiastic crowd of Partido Reporma members and supporters in a socially-distanced gathering observing health protocols, as he told stories of how he grew up in Cavite and reminisced of the old days when the city had another name.

“Anyway, [alam niyo itong] General Trias City ay San Francisco de Malabon. ‘Yan, inabot ko pa ‘yan ‘nung bata kami, dito kami laging nagbabakasyon. Alam niyo, masipag ‘yung tatay ko. Walo kaming magkakapatid. Kada dalawang taon, nanganganak. E mahirap namang dalawa ‘yung inaalagaan. So, ang gagawin, iwinawalay kami—ang tawag ‘nung araw, winawalay,” Lacson said. (ai/mtvn)
