Health workers join protests to assert their rights to just benefits, etc

In conjunction with the commemoration of International Human Rights Day, courageous health workers joined on Friday (10 Dec 2021) the protest to assert their right to a living wage, just benefits, security of tenure, humane and safe working conditions.

The health workers said that it has been a year of the pandemic yet the government cannot provide all COVID-19 benefits intended for them.

Acknowledged as new heroes amid the country’s battle against the killer virus, the health workers are wondering no end why the DOH and Duterte administration for what seems to be continued criminal neglect and inefficiency to hear and favorably respond to their legitimate demands, appeals, and needs in terms of their safety, well-being, and the people’s right to quality health care.

“Thus, in time of Human Rights Day, we health workers are united with our call to hold DOH Secretary Duque and Duterte government accountable for their continued violation of rights,” a press statement from their group said.
