MANILA — It was a regular working day Thursday, yet Senator and presidential aspirant Manny Pacquiao stirred up an overflowing crowd of supporters and fans alike during his caravan in Quezon City that day.
The boxing icon came without other candidates from his team but he easily gathered a similar big crowd of QC folk that attended the caravan of Bongbong-Sara UniTeam Coalition and its local candidates, observers claimed, a testament that the Pambansang Kamao still packs with him the magic, trust, and support from ordinary Filipinos.
“Alam ko ang mga mahihirap na tao nasa akin ang suporta. Tumatakbo ako para sa kanilang lahat, hindi para sa akin,” Pacquiao enthused as he was interviewed by reporters who covered the event in Barangays Payatas and Batasan Hills.
Shortly after the motorcade and press conference, the lawmaker paid a courtesy call to Barangay Captain Jojo Abad of vote-rich Batasan Hills where thousands of his supporters pressed into to get a glimpse of their idol and presidential bet.
On his Payatas swing, Sen. Pacquiao was met by Barangay Chairman Manny Guarin of Payatas where the boxing lawmaker also stirred up another overflowing crowd.
With their solid support and warm reception, Sen. Pacquiao vowed he will not ever forget the villagers of Payatas adding they have a soft spot in his heart and that he can relate to their plight as he also came from a poor family.
“Itong inyong napakainit na pagtanggap ay hinding-hindi ko makakalimutan,” Pacquiao said.
“Ayaw ko na may pamilyang walang tahanan. Pag inilagay tayo ng panginoon bibigyan ko ng tahanan ang bawat pamilya,” he said adding that his platform of government will be centered on ending corruption in government. (ai/mtvn)
