MANILA – Senators Nancy Binay and Grace Poe on Tuesday blasted the Philippine Health Insurance Corporation (PhilHealth) for declaring a ‘holiday” on the payments of unpaid bills to health care institutions, instead of resolving a perennial problem on top management.
In their separate statements, Binay and Poe said that the problem is a serious matter which should be resolved immediately by the entire board members not just representatives from different Cabinet secretaries.
“It is sad that some hospitals have to resort to this. Nakakadismaya dahil makailang beses na natin ni-raise sa Senate committee hearings ang isyu with PhilHealth and hanggang ngayon wala pa ring malinaw na solusyon sa problema,” Binay said.
She said that a ‘PhilHealth holiday’ is a major cause of concern. “Tama ba yung pasyente muna ang mag-aabono ng pang-ospital, tapos bahala na rin silang maghabol sa Philhealth?”
