LAPU-LAPU CITY, Cebu – Reneging on his promise that every household should receive the P5,000 calamity aid, several netizens have castigated Mayor Junard “Ahong” Chan as they expressed support to the proposal of Partido Lakas ng Masa (PLM) congressional aspirant Junex Doronio that the “Ayuda” should be distributed house-to-house regardless whether the residents are rich or poor, renting their dwelling or house owners, voters or non-registered voters in this city badly battered by supertyphoon Odette.

This developed as incumbent Congresswoman Paz Corro-Radaza, who is now gunning to take back her mayoralty seat from erstwhile protégé Chan, still has to distribute the P1 million in cash donation, 2,000 sacks of rice and 10 sacks of slippers which she had received from presidential aspirant Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. and vice presidential running mate Davao City Mayor Sara Duterte-Carpio for the victims of supertyphoon “Odette” in this city.

Earlier reports said Radaza met on December 31 last year with the barangay captains to discuss the distribution of the assistance and tasked Association of Barangay Captains President Eddie Cuizon to divide the sacks of rice among the 19 barangays situated in the mainland of Lapu-Lapu.

Lapulapu City has 30 barangays, including 8 on the island of Olango.

On Thursday, January 6, Doronio commented on the Facebook post of Chan: “Pobre man o middle class kitang tanan apektado. Tag-iya man o nag-abang lang ug balay apektado sad. Dapat walay pili. Tanan tagaan ug ayuda” (Poor or middle-class, we are all affected. House owner or house renter are also affected. There should be no discrimination. Everybody should be given aid)

Several netizens could not contain their outburst.

Jamela Presores Satera reacted: “Junex Doronio Sakto ka sir ky way gpili c odette..kita tanan affected.” (Junex Doronio, you are right that there should be no discrimination because we are all affected by Odette)

Rain Lane: “Junex Doronio mao gyud, allocated ng mga kwartaha sa tanan per household,. bisan pag walay guba ang balay pareha man ghpon ta na bagyuhan.. pastilan way pili pili unta kai naka budget namn na sa mga taw.” (Right, Junex Doronio, because the money was allocated to everybody per household even if there was no damage in the house my goodness there should be no discrimination for the budget intended for everyone)

Elaisa Mahilum: “Junex Doronio same rana sa Sap sir og nindot kag balay bisag walakay trabaho dli gihapon ka kadawat…dli nko maglaom ana… (It’s just like SAP sir if you have a nice even if you are jobless you can’t receive aid… I won’t hope for it anymore)

Maricel Bitua: Junex Doronio mao jud Kay kung nangabang apektado Baya sad hinaot unta apilon Ang nangabang (Junex Doronio, we agree that those renting the house are also affected and we hope they also get aid)

Helen Sayson Perez Olivo: “Junex Doronio tama kitang tanan man apiktuhan salamat” (Junex Doronio, right we are all affected thank you)

Chan replied: “Junex Doronio tinood kitang tanan na igo pero unsaon man nga limited man ang atong resources, Mao nga priority nato ang mga pobre aron makabangon sila. After the verification kung adunay sobra atong kwarta isunod nato ang uban nga nanginahanglan.” (Junex Doronio it is true that we were all hit but what we can do with our limited resources. That is why the poor is our priority so they can get back on their feet. After the verification, if there will be surplus in our money others in need will follow. Thank you for understanding).
