MANILA — The Seventh Infantry Division (7ID) of the Philippine Army (PA) installed four solar-powered Very Small Aperture Terminals (VSAT) in four remote detachments in Luzon during the last quarter of 2021.

The division has installed VSATs in Lacub, Abra; San Luis, Aurora; Doña Remedios Trinidad, Bulacan; and Carranglan, Nueva Ecija.

7ID Commander Maj. Gen. Andrew D. Costelo said the system will provide connectivity to troops deployed in far-flung areas and will also provide benefits to communities surrounding the detachments.

“Enhancing the capabilities of Army units nationwide is one of the main thrusts of the PA, “he added.

Philippine Army Commanding General Romeo S. Brawner, Jr said that the VSATs will benefit troops and communities in the hinterlands.

“By providing a stable communication line between our remote patrol bases and battalion headquarters, this equipment will boost the operational capability of our troops,” Brawner stated. (ai/mtvn)
