Tarlac declares mental health break

By Glen S. Ramos

TARLAC City – The provincial government of Tarlac yesterday afternoon issued an order declaring a week-long “Mental Health Break” for all officials, teachers, and students of both private and public schools in the whole province from January 17-31, 2022.

The directive is in support of Republic Act 11036, otherwise known as the ‘Philippine Mental Health Act’ which provides faculty and students the opportunity to take a certain number of days off for their mental health, especially in this time of the pandemic.

Paniqui Town Mayor Max Roxas who supported the order said that the mental health break will give teachers and students alike more time to relax and spend time with their families.

The academic break will foster academic ease and give the students and faculty members an opportunity to focus on their personal health and well-being amidst the crisis that everyone is currently facing.

Faculty members are directed to refrain from giving assignments and conducting synchronous and asynchronous classes during this period. (ai/mtvn)
