MANILA — Starting today Saturday (22 January 2022) until the end of January, four provinces in the country are placed under the second to the highest or strictest scale of COVID Alert Level system as announced by the National Inter-Agency Task Force on Emerging Infectious Diseases.

The four provinces that will be under Alert Level 4 are Kalinga, Ifugao, Mountain Province, and Northern Samar.

Alert Level 5 is the highest and strictest Covid Alert Scale.

“We have long anticipated that this could happen especially with the continuous rise of COVID-19 cases even outside Metro Manila. We have sufficiently prepared for the enforcement of tighter measures,” PNP Chief Police General Dionardo Carlos said.

Under Alert Level 4, it is expected that age restriction will be imposed for movement outside of residences. Persons younger than 18 years old, older than 65, with comorbidities and pregnant must stay at home. Meaning, interzonal travel is allowed for those persons not under the stay-at-home orders.

Indoor tourist attractions, meeting venues, indoor face-to-face exams, indoor gym, and courts, contact sports, outdoor and indoor amusement parks, internet cafes, arcades, cinemas, casinos, cockfighting, concerts, parties, wedding, receptions, motorcades, derma clinics, make-up salons, massage therapy, and staycations are prohibited.

Dining in restaurants and other establishments is allowed but business owners must only limit the people or customers of up to 30% of the venue capacity for al fresco, and 10% for indoor and only for fully vaccinated persons.

The PNP expects that the local government units affected will soon release an order that will lay down the guidelines. (ai/mtvn)
