MANILA — Following a warning from the government’s vaccine expert panel over spreading complacency among fully vaccinated individuals in complying with health safety protocols, PROMDI presidential aspirant Sen. Manny Pacquiao is enjoining the public to be mindful of their own health and avoid wanton disregard of policies of wearing face masks and practicing social distancing.

This came after the vaccine expert panel’s chairman Dr. Niña Gloriana reminded those who are already fully vaccinated or have been administered boosters shots can still be infected by Covid especially with the presence of the highly contagious Covid-19 Omicron variant.

In reaction, Pacquiao disclosed that his office has been receiving reports that there are many instances of people gathering in activities such as parties, celebrations, and get-togethers where they forget to wear face masks and practice physical distancing because they apparently believe that since they are fully vaccinated, they are already protected from infection.

He also noted Gloriani’s other warning that viral experts are now observing relapse among vaccinated patients who after being infected by the virus have once again contracted Covid-19, probably because of the Omicron variant which has been tagged as the culprit behind the surges of the pandemic in several countries worldwide, including the Philippines which is in its fourth surge of the disease.

To this, Pacquiao reiterated his appeal to the citizenry to be vigilant in ensuring their safety as well as the welfare of their loved ones by following the prescribed health safety protocols, policies, and restrictions and also never to forget to pray and have faith in God all-encompassing protection.

Manalangin po tayo palagi at manampalataya sa Kanya,” the People’s Champ, who is also a Christian pastor, stressed in conclusion. (ai/mtvn)
