MANILA — Reacting to vice president Leni Robredo’s remark that she would choose him as her bet in this year’s elections if she did not run for president, Senator and presidential aspirant Emmanuel ‘Manny’ Pacquiao thanked the veep for her trust in him, saying he would have not let her down because he is a firm believer of honesty and integrity over selfish ambition for power and self-aggrandizement.

At the same time, Pacquiao also issued a challenge to his rivals for the presidency to show their wealth as he is ready to submit his statement of assets, liabilities, and net worth (SALN) to the scrutiny of state auditors and the public to prove that there is not a single centavo or coin that could be alleged as ill-gotten wealth.

With this year’s national and local elections just a few months away, currently, there are ten presidential candidates that remain on the official ballot for May 9 with the Commission on Elections (Comelec) canceling several other candidacies for president who were tagged as a nuisance.

Appearing in several interviews prior to the filing of her certificate of candidacy before Comelec, the vice president revealed several standpoints on key issues, and in an interview with popular television host Boy Abunda, she revealed that Pacquiao would be the candidate that she would support for president if she is out from the presidential race.

To this, the boxer-turned-legislator had reacted with gratitude, saying he was thankful that VP Robredo mentioned his name and for her trust. According to the PROMDI standard-bearer, he will be bringing their platforms to the city for awareness and will be pushing for an honest government and true change.

The People’s Champ added that corruption is the cause of the struggle in the country and the reason behind why so many Filipinos are living below the poverty level so he has promised to commit himself to giving the people a transparent government that would fight against graft and corruption and promotes honesty and integrity among public officials.
