Militant women’s groups urge May 9 candidates to pay attention to the plight of women, children

In celebration of International Women’s Day on Tuesday (March 08, 2022), militant women’s groups SANLAHI (Alliance for Children’s Concerns) and GABRIELA (Alliance of Filipino Women) urge national candidates in the May 9 national and local elections to pay attention to the plight of women and children.

The militant groups also challenged them to come up with clear policies and programs that will address rising cases of abuse, violence, and exploitation if they would be elected into the hallowed halls of Congress.

Police later blocked and prevented them getting no further than the Mendiola Bridge in Manila. (Kiara Lauren Ibanez/BENJAMIN CUARESMA/ai/mtvn)
