CEBU CITY – A jobless man from the drug-affected village of Ermita here could face life imprisonment after being arrested in Talisay City with more than a kilo of illegal drugs believed to be shabu worth PHP6.9 million, a police official on Thursday said.
Lt. Col. Randy Caballes, Talisay City police chief, said a team from the drug enforcement unit collared Mark Dexter Tamarra Fernandez, 31, a high-value personality, in a buy-bust in Sitio Tubod, Barangay Candulawan in Talisay City on Wednesday night.
“The suspect was subject of reports due to his involvement in the illegal drug trade,” Caballes said in a message.
The operatives confiscated from Fernandez six plastic packs containing white crystalline substance believed to be shabu.
Also seized from the suspect were 20 small and medium packs of heat-sealed sachets also containing suspected shabu.
Apart from the cellphone, the authorities will also present in court the marked PHP1,000 bills placed on top of 299 pieces of bogus money used in the operation.
Caballes said Fernandez will be charged with the violation of Republic Act 9165 or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002. (PNA)
