Leni blasted for padding rally numbers; supporters dared to show up during motorcades

MANILA — Leni Robredo’s camp is now the center of intense public criticisms after it was accused of deliberately padding the number of attendees in its recent rallies in various areas of the country, in an obvious attempt to sway the public’s support in her favor.

As a result, social media is flooded with calls asking Leni’s camp to prove that the photos were not altered and that the attendees were real people.

“Mandaraya na sa boto noong 2016, mandaraya pa sa ritrato!” said the netizen with the account name “‘WagAko’Te”.

They were particularly reacting to rallies conducted such as in Bacolod where it was reported that some 70,000 attended and in Isabela where they claimed there were some 40,000 attendees as well as in Bulacan.

“Kung talagang organic ang rally nila sa Bacolod at Isabela, magpakita sila ng proof na pinagkakaguluhan si Lugaw sa motorcade! Kasi ang audience nila puro hakot at bayaran! Kaya lahat sila nasa rally na!” netizen Lito Gallardo said.

Last Sunday night, the released photo of the motorcade of Partido Federal ng Pilipinas (PFP) standard-bearer Ferdinand ‘Bongbong’ Marcos, Jr., was held in Las Pinas City, caused a stir on social media.

The BBM-Sara UniTeam’s 12-kilometer caravan lasted six hours which should have taken only 12 minutes at 60 kph.

Meanwhile, many netizens are now explicitly testing out how the Leni camp cheated the image they displayed during their campaign rally.

A netizen named Bambit Gaerlan criticized the picture released by Inquirer.Net where it said how the brightness, contrast and tone of the subject of a photo where adjusted through photoshop.

“Naghahanap ako ng photos sa google images using the search phase ‘robredo rally bacolod’ and three photos and pinili ko for this demo, it involves the photoshop levels feature na kung saan puwedeng ma-adjust ang brightness contrast, and tone ng isang photo. Eto ang na-discover ko,” said Gaerlan.

He also discovered that the person who photoshopped the photo of the rally placed a few more people even in area where there were water and fountain.

Carmelito David, on the other hand, said that the manipulation of the photos wa obvious, they are even using balloons or flags. “At ‘wag ka, kumpleto ang uniform nila na kulay pink. Halatang libre pa-tshirt, lobo at banderitas na, may tig-P500 pa bawat isa,” said David.

A fact check conducted by Maharlika TV revealed that it was impossible for the 70,000 people who were said to have filled the Paglaum Sports Complex in Bacolod, Negros Occidental.

It said that only 16,000 people can fit in the venue and even if this number is doubled, the 70,000 that Robredo camp claimed was way too far.

According to Maharlika TV, the Philippine Arena in Bocaue, Bulacan is the largest in the world, but it has a capacity of only 55,000 people.

“Paglaum also surpassed the 36,500 people capacity of Saitama Super Arena in Japan and the 27,000 people capacity of Baku Crystal Hall in Azerbaijan in an instant,” said Maharlika TV.

“Kaya kung talagang dinudumog ang rally ni Leni, paramihan na lang muna ng tao sa motorcade para magkaalaman na,” Dara Chua said on her FB account. (ai/mtvn)
