MANILA – A magnitude 5.4 earthquake jolted Cagayan Wednesday night, the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs) reported.
The tectonic quake struck 20 kilometers northeast of Aparri at 8:03 p.m.
It was 9 kilometers deep.
Intensity III was felt in Gonzaga, Cagayan; and Intensity II in Claveria, Cagayan and Pasuquin, Ilocos Norte.
Intensity I was reported in Laoag City, Ilocos Norte.
Phivolcs said aftershocks are likely, while damage is not expected from the magnitude 5.4 earthquake.
