LAPU-LAPU CITY, Cebu – Believing that only “in unity there is progress,” Team Abtik founder and congressional candidate Junex Doronio has openly declared his support for former Senator Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. for president and Davao City Mayor Sara Duterte for vice president in the upcoming May 9 polls.

“I did my own survey and I also asked my leaders in all 30 barangays here in Opon (old name of Lapu-Lapu City) and even my ‘millenial’ children. Their overwhelming choice is BBM-Sara,” Doronio said.

A journalist for the past 40 years, Doronio noted that the Publicus Asia’s Pahayag Survey latest results showing a 55-percent voters’ preference rating for Marcos Jr. only proved that the vast majority of the Filipino people are now nauseated with negative campaigning and they respond positively to the call of unity of the BBM-Sara UniTeam.

On Tuesday, March 29, the BBM-Sara UniTeam also got another boost when they secured the support of the Nacionalista Party (NP).

“We believe that Bongbong and Inday Sara’s message of unity is crucial in binding our country together and inspiring our people as we rebuild not only from the pandemic but also from the political chasm that divides us,” NP president Manny Villar said.

On Monday, March 28, a large urban poor group and a Muslim association have declared their support for Doronio who is seeking the lone congressional seat of this highly urbanized city.

Upper Kagudoy (Basak) Darul Iman Urban Poor Association (UKDAIUPA) president Abdul Gafur “Allan” Namli and Lapu-Lapu City Islamic Propagation Center (LCIPC) chairman Abdurahim “Pastor” Lopez promised to help Doronio win as representative, saying that the 64-year-old journo is “the only one who can be easily approached with and quick to response to the people’s grievances.”

The LCIPC led by Lopez, a former born-again Christian pastor-turned-Balik Islam (Muslim revert) who is now an Imam (prayer leader of a mosque), expressed appreciation that Doronio has vowed to help them build a cemetery once he is elected as congressman. (ai/mtvn)
