MANILA — Presidential frontrunner Ferdinand ‘Bongbong’ Marcos Jr. was elated that the UniTeam’s message of unity has finally reached the people of Zamboanga after thousands of residents warmly welcomed him during his visit to the peninsula on Tuesday.
Shortly after their arrival at the airport, Marcos was immediately greeted by thousands of Zamboangueños who also joined his caravan up to the University of Zamboanga Summit Center.
Because of the huge number of people who lined up on the streets, what was supposed to be a 30 -minute ride turned into a three-hour motorcade for the UniTeam.
“Akala po namin, mabilis lang ang magiging lakad namin papunta sa aming rally venue. Maraming pong salamat na kayo po ay nag-abala para lumabas at sumalubong po sa amin,” Marcos said when he made a short stopover to thank the UniTeam supporters who joined his motorcade.
“Sana po ay maipakita natin hindi lang dito sa Zamboanga kundi pati sa buong Pilipinas. Dito sa Zamboanga Peninsula buong buo ang suporta sa UniTeam at sa adhikain ng pagkakaisa,” he added.
The UZ Center Summit was already filled with thousands of people who were all waiting to meet and greet him and the UniTeam senatorial bets when he arrived.
In a chance interview, Marcos said he did not expect the huge number of people who will welcome him in his caravan and rally.
“Hindi namin ini-expect na ganito. It makes me very happy to see that the message of unity, yung aming laging mensahe na pagkakaisa (ay) mukha naman dahan-dahan nauunawaan talaga ng ating mga kababayan,” he said.
“Marami sa kanila naghintay ng matagal kaya’t nagpapasalamat ako sa kanilang lahat at ramdam na ramdam yung init ng salubing dito sa (Zamboanga) City,” he added.
Marcos said he will continue to deliver the UniTeam’s message of cooperation and unity that will be the key to the country’s recovery. (ai/mtvn)
