BORBON, Cebu – Saying that it was a “demolition job” by his political opponents, Mayor Noel Dotillos on Thursday strongly denied a radio report that there was an anomaly in the P116-million housing project in Barangay Tagnucan.
“There was no anomaly and I was not the mayor when the contract was entered into with a Manila-based contractor Phesco,” Dotillos told Maharlika TV in an exclusive interview.
He debunked a radio report that said 400 housing units were languishing for nearly nine years.
Dotillos said the housing project actually started on January 5, 2019.
The contractor was only delayed in its timetable to finish the project even when it has received 28 percent of the contract amount.
However, Dotillos claimed that about 50 percent of the project is already finished.
Earlier, the re-electionist mayor expressed a belief that the UniTeam of former Senator Bongbong Marcos and Sara Duterte will foster the country’s unity and progress.
Dotillos said he envisions this tranquil town to become a first-class municipality by building a large port and put up an economic zone.
He predicted that Team Dotillos-Melgo (TDM) will succeed, especially when “BBM wins as president and Inday Sara as vice president.”
Re-electionist Vice Mayor Roy D. Melgo agreed, saying he will focus on tourism development.
“We will build a large port that will serve our neighboring islands. Of course, with this port an economic zone will also be established to improve the quality of life of all Borboranons,” Dotillos said. (ai/mtvn)
