BBM stays unbeatable; Leni can’t catch up—Pulse Asia’s Tabunda

MANILA — Pulse Asia Research Director, Ana Tabunda revealed on Wednesday that presidential frontrunner Ferdinand ‘Bongbong’ Marcos Jr., continues to dominate with an almost insurmountable lead that even the slight dip in his latest survey number has hardly made a dent as far as his chances in the fast-approaching May 9 elections are concerned.

“His (Marcos) decline is not significant nationwide,” Tabunda said in an interview over ANC News Channel, adding that the presidential bet was obviously not affected by several issues being hurled against him.

Also, Tabunda said the slight increase of Marcos’ rival, Leni Robredo is not enough to catch up in the presidential race.

“No (she can’t catch up) because the increase is not enough,” Tabunda noted.

“It’s difficult to say but there has to be a larger decline in the voter preference and larger increases in Robredo’s preference votes for her to be able to catch up,” she added.

Tabunda claimed that Marcos and Robredo were still separated by 32 percentage point with only at least three weeks before the May 9, 2022 elections.,

“The gap between them is 32 percentage points, so if Bongbong Marcos loses 16 points and Leni Robredo gains 16 points. They will be statistically tied. So,you need a larger than 16 points decline for Bongbong Marcos and a larger than 16 points increase for Leni Robredo,” Tabunda explained.

Based on the recent Pulse Asia survey released on Wednesday, Marcos remained on top, scoring 56% voter preference.

At distant second was Leni Robredo with 24% while Isko Damagoso scored 8%. Senator Manny Pacquiao, meanwhile, settled with 6%, while Senator Panfilo Lacson got 2%. (ai/mtvn)
