MANILA — Rumors no more.
Certain groups or people pushing for a Bongbong Marcos and SP Tito Sotto partnership or “MarSo” in short, for the May 9 national elections, caught Novaliches, Quezon City by surprise.
The roving team of the Maharlika TV news network spotted anew a group of MarSo supporters posting tarpaulins bearing the photos of the leading presidential candidate BBM and Nationalist People’s Coalition (NPC) vice presidential bet in Senate President Tito Sotto.
At least six different tricycle drivers were also spotted attaching MarSo tarps on the back of their trikes of posters with “Sa MarSo, Masa Panalo!” slogan.
MTVN’s roving team on Thursday also spotted “MarSo” movers also distributing posters and tarpaulins in San Mateo and Montalaban, Rizal.
“May mga grupong nagtatanong sa amin kung matatanggap ba namin ang tambalang MarSo. Sabi naming bakit hindi, tamang kombinasyon ‘yan. Parehong may karanasan sa paggawa ng batas, parehong seasoned-politician. Dadalhin naming itong tambalan,” said Mang Lucio, who lives in the area for almost three decades.
Sotto’s platform centered to uplift the life of the marginalized including the transport sector.
“Ramdam naming sa plataporma ni Senator Sotto na magkakaroon ng pagbabago ang aming kabuhayan. Napag-iiwanan talaga ang sector naming. Sa liderato ni BongBong Marcos at sa impluwensiya at karanasan ni Sotto, payag kami samahan ang MarSo hanggang sa Mayo,” he added.
While Marcos is leading all throughout survey platforms for presidentiables, Sotto is not far behind Davao City Mayor Sarah Duterte in the VP race.
Duterte is BBM’s official running mate.
In the latest Pulse Asia survey for the duration of March 17-21, 2022, using face-to-face interviews, Sotto is No.2 overall with 20%, trailing Duterte with 56%.
Sotto garnered 24% approval rating in NCR, Luzon, 22, Visayas 26 and 8% in Mindanao.
The fights for VP position is practically between Sotto and Duterte as other hopefuls are down with Kiko Pangilinan, 15% , followed by Doc Wllie Ong with 5% (4th) and Lito Atienza with measly 1%.
“We have the support of the people on the ground,” said Sotto in recent interview.
The NPC leadership downplays the MarSo tandem although an insider admitted that several members particularly in provinces are supporting Marcos.
“We have to respect the decision of our members. Ito ang maganda sa NPC, hindi naming dinidiktahan ang mga miyembro sa pagpili ng Presidente, basta sa Vice kailkangan solid kami and united for SP Sotto,” the source added. (AI/MTVN)
