The Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) led by Director General Wilkins M. Villanueva (left) rolled out Oplan Harabas in time for the Holy Week where an influx of passengers to provinces is expected.
The program intends to prevent untoward road accidents that took place in previous years during Lent as drivers allegedly take illegal drugs to cope with the huge demand for transport.
Oplan Harabas involves random drug tests on bus drivers and conductors to make sure that they are “clean” while working and providing service to the public.
The PDEA has partnered with other government agencies in the conduct of simultaneous, surprise mandatory drug tests for bus drivers and conductors while K9 sweeps bus terminals, airports, and seaports throughout the country to help safeguard travelers during the Lenten Season.
