TANAUAN City — The Tanauan City Office of the Chief of Staff has issued a memorandum lifting the temporary closure of Baywalk and Lakeshore areas after the Philippine Institute on Volcanology and Seismology lowered Taal volcano’s alert level back to No. 2.

“All concerned barangays, implementing agencies, business operators, and the general public are hereby advised that the Temporary Closure of Baywalk and Lakeshore Areas is being lifted in light of the downgrading of Taal Volcano unrest from Level 3 to Level 2 effective April 10, 2022,” the memo, signed by COS Casiano Saniano, said.

On Saturday (April 9, 2022), the Phivolcs lowered Taal Volcano’s status to Alert Level 2 “to reflect the overall decreasing trend in the level of monitoring parameters.”

Saniano, however, also advised promenaders of Baywalk and Lakeshore areas, which are inarguably the most frequented places by visitors and Tanauenos alike “to still strictly observe the minimum public health standards of physical distancing and wearing of face mask as prescribed under COVID-19 Alert Level 1.

    c. Make sure to take a shower or take a bath after swimming in the lake
  2. Safety precautions under Alert Level 2
    a. Always stay watchful and alert at all times since Alert Level 2 does not mean total safety/

    c. For floating cottage operators, the distance of travel out adrift shall be limited to a maximum of 200 meters from the lakeshore and ensure that there are enough life vests for each individual being accommodated during the ride.
