MANILA — The Philippine Transports Monitor (PhilTRaM), the group which is vigorously pushing for the Marcos-Sotto (MarSo) tandem, has on Tuesday (03 May 2022) urged national and local candidates to help ensure an honest, peaceful and orderly election even as it also called on the voting public to stay vigilant before and after casting their votes next week.
“Tayo po ay nanawagan sa atin pong mga national and local candidates na manatiling tapat sa kanilang sinumpaang malinis at ligtas na halalan 2022 sa Comelec,” PhilTram national chairman Aio Bautista said.
“At the same time, tayo pong mga botante naman ay dapat na manatiling nakabantay sa anumang kaganapan pagkatapos po nating bomoto sa May 9,” Bautista added.
At least 65.7 million Filipino voters are expected to flock to different voting precincts in the country on Monday (May 9, 2022) next week for this year’s national and local elections.
PhilTraM campaigned for MarSo by barnstorming the whole region of north Luzon for five days last week as they pushed for what they call as a “perfect combination” of leading presidential candidate Bongbong Marcos and Nationalist People’s Coalition vice presidential bet Senate President Tito Sotto, or MarSo for short.
PhilTram is made up of at least 20,000 members nationwide.
Tropang MarSo tirelessly campaigned for the winning tandem which was specially handpicked by the group as they espouse the welfare of transport workers like jeepney drivers, tricycle drivers, riders from ride-hailing apps and food delivery services.
Aside from the transport group, MarSo also enjoys the support of the youth sector, and the women’s and religious organizations among others.
Bautista confided that their five-day sojourn up north was marked by inspiring stories and loud approval from a huge crown of market-goers, tricycle drivers, and shoppers at Villasis, Pangasinan public market.
The overly enthusiastic crowd promised they would fully support the Marcos-Sotto tandem come May 9, 2022.
Before heading up north, the MarSo caravan first held well-attended motorcades participated in by tricycle drivers and riders in the two cities of Sto, Tomas and Tanauan in Batangas.
Afterwhich, PhilTram also held a similar activity in Montalban, Rizal that became the starting point for the group before embarking on their northern sojourn. (ai/mtvn)
