LA UNION — The Universal Health Care (UHC) Program can now be fully realized in all the provinces of Ilocos Region namely, Pangasinan, La Union, Ilocos Sur and Ilocos Norte as all the provincial governors from four provinces have ensured their commitment by signing the Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) for its implementation in their respective areas.

Ilocos Norte Governor Mathew Marcos Manotoc recently signed the UHC MOU at the Provincial Capitol, completing the list of provinces in the region that will be under the DOH’s UHC Integration Sites (UIS) Program.

“These provinces have been serving their people with utmost care by providing equitable access and ensuring the quality of medical services in their health facilities.

“Once the program is implemented in all the provinces, every patient needing medical care are assured of medical services mula sa primary care level at secondary level hanggang tertiary level kung kinakailangan.

The regional office has already started training and reorienting health workers in various provinces in preparation for the integration of local health systems into province-wide or city-wide health systems to ensure the effective and efficient delivery of population-based and individual-based health services.

Sydiongco said that the UHC program is a six-year transition period for local government units (LGUs) wherein managerial and technical integration is expected to be demonstrated in the first three years of its implementation and to be followed by financial integration within the next three years.

“We will continue to provide technical and financial support to LGUs during the implementation of the UHC program upang maisaayos at maisakatuparan ang mga mahahalagang repormang pangkalusugan para sa benepisyo ng mga pasyente.”
