CEBU CITY, Philippines — It may seem surreal to the hardliners but in vote-rich Cebu province — once known as an “anti-Marcos country” — former Senator Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. leads a margin by approximately 700,000 votes over his rival, Vice President Leni Robredo in the recently-concluded presidential race.

The island province of Cebu delivered over 2 million votes in total for the UniTeam of Marcos and Davao City Mayor Sara Duterte-Carpio.

A total of 2.1 million voters from 51 localities in Cebu province cast their ballots last Monday, May 9.

Robredo only got 391,080 votes in the entire island province.

The majority of the local chief executives have backed the BBM-Sara tandem.

Among them were re-elected Cebu Governor Gwen Garcia, Cebu City Mayor Mike Rama, and Borbon town mayor Noel T. Dotillos and Vice Mayor Roy D. Melgo. (ai/mtvn)
