MANILA — President-elect Ferdinand ‘Bongbong’ Marcos Jr. has given his trust to his national election campaign manager, former Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) chairman Benjamin ‘Benhur’ Abalos Jr., to hold the reigns at the Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG).
The former MMDA chief’s appointment was announced by the BBM chief of staff and spokesperson Atty. Vic Rodriguez in yesterday’s press briefing, wherein Marcos Jr.’s confidante also disclosed Abalos’ acceptance of the post and the challenge to lead the agency.
“I would like to express my deepest gratitude to our president-elect Ferdinand ‘Bongbong’ Marcos, Jr. for trusting me with the Department of Interior and Local Government. At this time when there is a strong call for our nation’s unity, the DILG plays a paramount role in promoting peace and order and in bringing together our local government units,” Abalos pointed out.
“Rest assured that I will do my utmost to foster thriving, peaceful communities throughout our beloved country,” he added in conclusion. (ai.mtvn)
